Caring for Your Piece After Purchase

Sterling silver tarnishes when exposed to air. Many of the pieces on this site have been oxidized to add dimension and enhance the look. Because everyone’s body chemistry is different, some wearers will find that their silver jewelry becomes more polished with wear, while others will find that it becomes more tarnished. Jen is of the opinion that this enhances the individuality of each piece. She likes the tarnished and distressed look!

For best results, Jen recommends storing your sterling and fine silver jewelry in a plastic ziplock bag with the air removed, to prevent additional tarnishing. To remove minor tarnishing, mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water and clean with a soft cloth. For heavier tarnish, mix a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water. Wet the silver and apply the cleaner with a soft cloth. Work the paste into the crevices, turning the cloth as it gets gray.
